The goal of this research is to develop a framework rooted in semantic techniques and approaches to support “long-tail” models and data integration. Because of the staggering production rate of long-tail models and data (henceforth referred to as resources) due to the continued advances in computational, sensing, and information technologies, an important question arises: how can geoinformatics science bring together all these resources seamlessly, given the inherent complexity among model and data resources, that span across various geoscience domains. We believe that leveraging present and emerging information technologies to ensure proper interoperability among these resources will provide an important core for the solution.
